How to Choose a Top Rated Toilet

The Best Toilet

When we were first decorating our house, I said to myself that I want our bathroom to look really beautiful because I know I’ll be spending a lot of time in there bathing and grooming myself. That is why I was so obsessive about all the details even down to the simplest things like the toilet. Naturally, I wanted to get something that is aesthetically pleasing as well as easy to install in clean. And like in many cases, before heading out in search of the best toilet, I decided to do some research. Naturally, I found out that there a lot of types of toilets and they differ in many different categories like the tank style, the bowl style, and even the siphoning system.

Siphoning

I realized that in order to be able to find the best flushing toilet, I’d have to deal with the siphoning. There are two types: siphoning and non-siphoning. The most common type used in many Western homes is the siphoning toilet. When a large amount of water is poured on the bowl, it triggers a sucking mechanism in order to flush the waste straight to the septic system. Non-siphoning systems, on the other hand, were used way back in the old days. It usually has a valve or a door that opens when flushed in order to eliminate the waste from the bowl. But nowadays, the best rated toilet brand usually uses siphoning mechanisms.

Flush Tank

There are also different kinds of flushes that can be installed on toilets. I figured, If were to get the best toilet, then I’d better take this in consideration too. Normally, toilets have flush tanks since this is where the water is stored. In many toilets, they use a single flush system. In this type of system, the tank valve released water into the bowl when the lever is pushed. This, in turn, triggered the siphon mechanism. But since I wanted something that can help conserve the water, as I know flushing can be a waste of water, I went with the dual flush toilet instead. This design was quite ingenious. It has two separate tanks and valves, one filled with more water than the other.  The smaller tank is for flushing pee while the bigger tank is, well, for solid waste. This way, I am able to conserve water everytime I flush.

There are also tankless flush toilet systems. As the name suggests, it does not have any tank in where it can store water. However, what it has is a high pressure valve or a flushometer that allows  you pour water down the bowl. And because it does not have a tank, it does not take time to refill. It can be used immediately after flushing. I also considered having this type in my home but this type has more of a commercial appearance as they are commonly seen in public restrooms so I decided not to go with it instead.

Bowl Shape

Apart from the best toilet brand, considering the bowl shape is very important as I want my bathroom to look very modern and elegant. They have the conventional oval shapes as well as the more modern ones. They are commonly made from ceramic materials to ensure durability. The designs are just endless and I love how each look gives different style to the bathroom like the conventional oval shape works well with the classic bathroom while the more geometrical ones are great for a modern themed one like ours.

The Best Flushing Toilets

When you try to ask what the best toilet is, you’ll probably hear a lot of arguments rooting for this or that as the best toilet brand. But no one will argue about the importance of these. Most people consider these as singularly the best invention ever made by man, if only because they made outhouses outdated. Not everyone needs microwave ovens, toasters, or blenders, but toilets are a completely different story.

While the appearance is certainly important, there are also a lot of factors that you should take into consideration when you’re choosing which toilet is best.

Bowl Shape

Except for the fancy and novel ones, toilets usually come in either of two shapes: round and elongated. Round toilets are the ones you commonly see, probably because they don’t take up that much space in the bathroom. Elongated toilets are slightly more comfortable and have bigger seats, which big-built people might prefer.

Flushing System

Gravity toilets are the most typical of all toilets, where the bowl is filled with water and you press a knob to flush the waste. Vacuum toilets use air to pull the toilet contents down the drain. Pressure-assisted toilets are the loud ones, where large amounts of water force the waste to flush down, assisted by air.

The dual flush toilet was created for the purpose of water conservation. You can choose to use a light amount of water or a heavy amount depending on your need.

Toilet Assembly

A toilet can either be one-piece piece or made of two different sections. The one-piece toilet is actually a misnomer. It’s actually composed of five to six different pieces that need to be assembled to create the toilet. The two-piece toilet, on the other hand, has its tank separated from the bowl, and are only fitted together. While this is less aesthetic than the one-piece toilet, two-piece toilets are less expensive than the former.

Don’t simply take the word of people about what the best rated toilets are. Consider all of the side factors in making your choice. Consider your needs as well when picking the best flushing toilet for your home. Just don’t try these at the shop!
